Attractions

Places of Interest

Many visitor attractions, some well known and some hidden gems, are within easy reach. We recommend Blair Castle, Royal Deeside, Cluny Gardens, Edradour Distillery, the Crannog Centre, Blair Atholl Watermill and the Cairn O’Mhor winery, to name a few.

Children’s activities

Try the climbing wall, wildlife park, fun parks, Beatrix Potter Exhibition, go swimming in a loch, a river, or at the excellent Perth Leisure Pool. Alternatively, paint a pot! Children love exploring the garden too, saving the need to chase about and allowing you to enjoy your holiday…

Rafting

The area hosts a wide variety of activities, including walking, climbing, skiing, horse riding, curling, cycling, watersports, kayaking, adventure sports, golf, shooting and fishing.

History

Castles abound, including Scone Palace, ancient coronation site of Scottish monarchs. Numerous stone circles, standing stones, forts, barrows as well as a concentration of Bronze Age sites are easy day trips. The famous Meikleour Hedge, planted as a legacy to locals who died at Culloden, is the biggest in the world.

Wildlife

See ospreys, have an adventurous safari or simply walk up the garden and into the hills for a chance to see deer, red squirrels, stoats, curlews, lapwings, eagles, grouse or hares. You might see otters on the river or salmon jumping.

Walking

Glenshee and Strathardle Tourist Association has produced a local walking guide. You can download the guide in PDF format to see what they recommend.
