The Village

Camnacar Cottage is on the edge of Kirkmichael and just a minute from its award-winning village shop.

The village also boasts 3 pubs, all offering good food and a warm welcome, and one now featured in the Michelin Guide on account of its exceptionally fine fare.

History

Numerous stone circles, standing stones, forts,barrows and castles(e.g. Glasclune Castle, Ardblair Castle and earthwork, Craighall Stone Circle, Standing Stone and Castle and Cleaven Dyke) as well as a concentration of Bronze Age sites (Middleton Muir, Buzzart Dykes and Glens) are easy day trips. The famous Meikleour Hedge, planted as a legacy to locals who died at Culloden, is the biggest in the world.

Wildlife

See ospreys here, have an adventurous safari or simply walk up the garden and into the hills for a chance to see deer, red squirrels, stoats, curlews, lapwings, eagles, grouse or hares. You might see otters on the river or salmon jumping.

Many visitor attractions, some well known and some hidden gems, are within easy reach. We recommend Blair Castle, Royal Deeside, Cluny Gardens, Edradour Distillery, the Crannog Centre, Blair Atholl Watermill and the Cairn O'Mhor winery to name a few.

Children's activities

Try the climbing wall, wildlife park, fun parks, Beatrix Potter Exhibition, go swimming in a loch, river or at the excellent Perth Leisure Pool, or paint a pot.
